At the passing out parade of the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, delivered a powerful and unambiguous message to the Indian government. He stated that Pakistan would welcome an impartial investigation into the so-called terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, where 28 tourists were reportedly shot dead by unknown assailants. This offer by Pakistan was recognized and appreciated globally, showcasing our commitment to peace and truth.
However, alongside this gesture of goodwill, the Prime Minister issued a stern warning to India: if New Delhi dared to block or divert the flow of the Indus River and its tributaries; rivers that are the lifeline of Pakistan ; then Pakistan would be compelled to retaliate with full force. He firmly reminded India that the Indus Waters Treaty, signed in 1960 under the guarantee of the World Bank, is not a pact that can be undone unilaterally. Any attempt to violate it would be considered an act of war.
In the aftermath of the Pahalgam incident, Indian media, ministers, and military personnel issued reckless, provocative statements, hurling baseless accusations against Pakistan and threatening to revoke the Indus Treaty, impose diplomatic sanctions, and close multiple border points. Pakistan responded swiftly and decisively, including the imposition of airspace restrictions over Pakistani territory; a move that immediately inflicted greater losses on India.
The people of Pakistan are united in one belief: water is our second lifeline after faith. Any attempt by India to block or divert our rivers will be seen as an existential threat. And if that red line is crossed, then India must be prepared to face the consequences. As two nuclear-armed nations, Pakistan will not hesitate to use every means at its disposal to defend its survival and sovereignty.
Let it be clear: if India plays with Pakistan’s water, they forfeit their own right to exist peacefully. This is not a threat; it is a vow.
Pak Army Zindabad.
Pakistan Paendabad.
